Completing Online Application Forms

October 13th, 2011 posted by admin

Most of the recruiters nowadays tend to prefer online application form as the main means for recruiting graduates. Despite the convenience and the universality of CV applications, the online forms now are becoming more and more preferred by employers because they give the chance for significant exploration of the graduate’s abilities and his/her motivation to contribute to a company. This is why it is essential for young people to understand how to apply in such online forms so that they attract the attention of the potential employer.

Apart from the standard academic results, work experience and relevant references, the online application asks the graduate to complete the so called ’online interview'sections. This is designed so that less time would be vested into interviewing capable candidates - they are given chance to answer questions directly on the application form. So you should be aware of how to approach such sections and how to actually complete them so that the answers would be beneficial to your application.

Expressing Motivation Online - rather difficult and absolutely inaccurate. Still a fact in modern day recruitment!

Even if applying for an industrial position that requires little additional information, you will still be asked questions such as “Describe an experience where you completed a whole project”, ’What was the most significant achievement in your professional development?'and so on. The best way to answer the online interview is by following these steps:

  • Answer each question with simplicity - avoid academic expression and do not prolong your answer. The simpler it is, the easier for the recruiter to obtain relevant information.
  • Always include information relevant to what your job application is for. For example, if applying for an IT position, describe an occasion or an example of your IT work and not your job as a McDonald’s sales assistant.
  • Always aim to reveal the top of your qualities - never go into describing personal facts (such as how hard you worked and how much you needed a job). Just stick to the qualities you deserve in terms of professional contribution to a company or an employer.
  • Be precise - never write something that you would not recall. On the real day of the interview someone would definitely see your application form and would ask you a question about it. Make sure you know the answer!
